Hi Reader,

I was looking at the recipes I make again and again and realized that many of them are side dishes.

These are the recipes I look to go with anything from shrimp kabobs, to baked/grilled chicken, to baked pasta.

It's so great to have a go-to list of these to quickly add to a main dish or protein, so I thought I'd share the sides I've been making on repeat for years!

Our favorite sides separated into vegetable and carb lists:

VEGETABLE SIDES:

Quick and Delicious Garlic Green Beans

Cook these outside on the grill or inside in a skillet - either way they are fantastic! I mainly do this with fresh beans and cook frozen beans like this with bacon and onions (yum).

Lemon Garlic Baked Grated Carrots

You simply will not believe how good these carrots are baked simply with garlic, butter and lemon juice - it's kind of amazing! So much that my daughter regularly asks for these for her birthday dinner. 😀

Super Easy Grilled Vegetables

Once you have this technique down, you will be cooking all your veggies like this during the grilling season. I just use whatever is ready from the garden!

Roasted Cauliflower with Turmeric Spices

Roasted cauliflower is my favorite and tossing them with this healthy spice mixture first makes them that much better!

CARB SIDES:

Crispy Parmesan Rice Cakes

I originally created this to use up leftover rice and my kids loved them so much I had to start planning to have cooked rice on hand to make these!

Garlic Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes

The only mashed potatoes I make now - they are so good. Though I will often replace the sour cream with chicken broth and they are good that way, too.

My Grandma's Baked Tasty Rice

A family classic that just doesn't get old - one of those recipes that takes 5 minutes to put together and bakes while you're doing something else. The BEST.

Side of...Bread? Probably our favorite carb side is bread - artisan, rolls, focaccia, and all the kinds, but it isn't considered an actual side dish, lol.

Tell Me This...

Hit reply and tell me what is your favorite go-to side dish?

After weeks of rain (we're 2" over our normal rain for this time of the year!), I'm ready for it! I've wanted to share the fun new vegetable variety I'm...

I'm so glad to be in this beautiful spring month where the possibility of sun and warmth is right on the horizon (for us in the north - I see those in the south already in shorts and dealing with 90 degrees!). Right now though, we're dodging rain showers trying to get yard work done and it looks like we will be working around them...

None of them are huge amounts, but I've added them to...
